teacher training length & content

Post  Rob on Tue Feb 12, 2008 5:55 pm

Perhaps an MLC historian could shed light on how teacher training length & content has changed over the years.

Some WELS teachers retiring now (after decades of faithful service) received their training during the Synod "emergency" of the 1960s when teacher training was shortened to 2.5 years to cope with the "emergency."

Contrasting 1960s-era training, we now have ECE training at MLC runnning 5 full years.

Other factors over the years include: DMLC accreditation, amalgamation, and state credentialing.

It seems that the length & content of training for (D)MLC grads depends on when they attended.
